The Deva of Kanna is the primal surge of life - a sacred, flowing, and wise current rising from the depths of Earth. Kanna (Sceletium tortuosum) is a low-growing, creeping succulent, energetically moving with the undulating rhythm of a gentle serpent - coiled and elegant; transformative. Integrating energy rather than startling. It embodies the motion of kundalini, subtle currents, and the sacred rhythm of energy rising through the body. It is the solar-serpent of the soil rising to meet the heart.
 
Kanna calls forth our vitality - shedding old layers of limitation, igniting creative power, and awakening the sacred pleasure of the Soul. This plant spirit bridges the sacred and the primal, dissolving shame and fear so that authentic expression can emerge. With Kanna, sovereignty, passion, pleasure, and power are reclaimed as offerings to the Divine. In Southern Africa, Kanna has been honoured by Indigenous Khoisan peoples for centuries as a sacred plant ally. Traditionally chewed, smoked, or brewed as tea, it has been worked with to ease tension, enhance mood, deepen connection, and support trance states in ceremony. Kanna was regarded as both a medicine of the body and a spirit ally for calming the heart, creating social harmony by guiding the community toward coherence and joy.
